There Goes 2015...
Thank you all for your support, good wishes, feedback and, of course, your orders throughout 2015! We celebrated our second year of trading and looking back over the year seem to have done loads of eventful and exciting things.....
And what does 2016 hold for us?
Well, now Mark is working more hours on the bakery we'll be looking to see what we can do more of. We already have a good number of weekend events in the diary - we'll let you know about these as they come up.
We'll be arranging more Over Markets throughout 2016.
And more bread making workshops - two already arranged on 30th January and 23rd April at SVC.
And we'll be looking to grow the business organically at a sustainable rate.
We hope you'll continue to enjoy our wares as much as we enjoy baking them. We'd love you to continue to be part of hte Orb story so do please keep giving us your feedback - both when you've been bowled over and also when you think we could have got it better. We're very happy too to have more ideas from you of breads and other bakes that you'd like us to try during the year.
2016's first order form will be with our subscribers by 2nd Jan 2016.
if you'd like to be added to the Orb e-list please email [email protected] or send an enquiry form via this website.
Caroline and Mark wish you all a very Happy and Prosperous New Year.
Thank you all for your support, good wishes, feedback and, of course, your orders throughout 2015! We celebrated our second year of trading and looking back over the year seem to have done loads of eventful and exciting things.....
- We've developed our product range, adding specialty breads like walnut and honey and a beer bread using spent brewing grains from a local real ale producer (thank you Mr Gilbey!) as well as developing cakes and patisserie offers
- Started supplying Bushell Box Farm Shop with cakes as well as breads.
- We were runners up in the Cambridge Food & Drink Awards' Food Producer of the Year 2015 - which was a wonderful surprise for us - and many thanks to you for voting.
- We have attended many food fayres and local farmers markets and met lots of great people in the process
- We bought our fantastic Rofco bread oven and Foster 'retarder' fridge...both of which have made our baking lives easier and more productive!
- One of our loyal customers gave us some great marketing advice (thank you Vanessa!)
- In the Autumn we were instrumental along with our good friends at Fen End Country Kitchen and Rosegate Farm, in setting up Over's first market in generations. The two we've organised so far have been really well attended and we've had such wonderful feedback from the local community - this has been most gratifying to us all.
- We have been spreading the real bread word at any opportunity - teaching bread making to 90 children at Over Primary School (what larks!); holding a bread session with the residents at Elm Court in Over and running Orb's first traditional bread making workshop at Swavesey Village College
- We have been keenly developing our own skills and knowledge....Mark celebrated his birthday with a day's course with the renowed French baker, Richard Bertinet, we both attended the Real Bread Campaign's Real Bread Conference & Workshop in London and of course we have rather enjoyed visiting other artisan bakeries/cafes and sampling the competition!
- We have delighted (we hope!) family members with any manner of bread based offerings at family gatherings and used friends to trial new products
