April 2014 - The Orb wood fired clay oven is now virtually complete - note the new chimney - a piece of galvinised steel drain pipe.
We tried to fire it up (over Easter) but this was not a complete success- it did not reach the highest of temperature - allowing us to meekly bake two rosemary breads.
A Google search suggests...
1. we didn't fire it for long enough
2. the wood we were using was not dry enough
Well, derrrr!! -School boy errors if you ask me!
We will give it a go again very soon.
In case you're wondering, the swing was to hold a tarpaulin to keep the weather off - whilst it is rock hard, being made of clay enough water will eventually take it back to mud! We will eventually get rustic roof to keep the wet off.

November 2013 - Orb Bakery creates its first website: "It's been a great learning curve for us," said Caroline. "We never thought we'd be able to do it so easily."
Mark and Caroline attended a Build a Website in a Day course at Swavesey Village College run by 'Tutor Den' Pemberton. The course used the wonderful FREE online website building package by Weebly. "So long as you've some knowledge of how the main computer packages work, anyone can use Weebly to make a website," said Mark. "Believe us if we can do it, anyone can!"

September 2013 - the beginning of the plinth for the Orb Bakery cob earth oven. This will be a wood fired oven to bake some of our breads and pizzas. We are on the way and the next stage is digging out the clay from the garden.. and then getting our hands, feet, knees and no doubt everything else muddy when we make the cob!
Does anyone want to come and learn how to build a cob oven. We'd be happy to oblige if you'll be happy to squelch!! Get in touch by contacting us.
