We were so pleased that our last Over Village Market for some time was such a resounding success. So many people came - it was great so see groups of friends and neighbours catching up, chewing the fat, and chewing the lovely Piri chicken from Mario De Matos catering and cups of delightful coffee from the wonderful PolkaDot Tea Shop. - and so many stalls to browse and buy from - 21 in total. We were very pleased to sell out again - it is really gratifying. Only wish we could physically bake more for these markets - but it's great to see so many people keen to get hold of our products.
The next Over Market will be the last one before Christmas - and takes place on Saturday 26 November. There are already many stalls signed up to attend what is becoming a very sought after market. Well done Over!
And if you need another market fix the school is providing one! Orb will be attending the Pop Up Farmer's market at the school on Friday. We went last year to this event and it was great - lots of your local favourites such as Fen End Country Kitchen and lots of stalls prepared by the children.
Do come along - should be fun!
Easier really to tell you what we're not doing this week - St Clements Curdy muffins and Raspberry Muffins are off. Most all others bakes are on.
We're promoting this week...
- The RETURN OF Bread Puddings.
- Also new kids on the block White Chocolate and Cranberry Cookies - what's not to like there?!
- Walnut & Wildflower Honey Bread is making a return by popular demand
Details of all the above are on this product list.
It is with mixed feelings that we write what will most likely be our last Orb Bakery News for quite some time. It gives us a moment to reflect on the Orb story so far. When we restarted baking bread by hand back in 2012 it was for a variety of reasons - producing good nutritional food, creating something with our hands, and the mental well-being that bread making engenders were all amazingly wonderful benefits.
We set up our first stall at Over Carnival in 2013 and sold out in just under two hours. We realised that there was a desire to get hold of good bread that was not available locally... and so we found out how to establish a food business and Orb was born in September 2013.
We began baking once a week for our neighbours and friends. Our neighbours and friends have now expanded somewhat!! One of the joys that Orb has brought us is that we've met so many lovely, friendly, funny people we would never have come across otherwise. And we now bake at least three times a week; we supply several retail outlets and have run a market stall at St Ives for over two years; and we bake twice a week for customers who come to the house each week - always telling us how nice the walk up our driveway smells!!
Orb is going from strength to strength and in business terms closing down for six months to go to run a ski chalet is not something Lord Sugar would be advising us to do! But we are at a time of our lives where this is an opportunity that is too good to miss. And we are going to see if the experience of running what is in effect a mini hotel 24/7 will give us some more experiences that we can bring back to help us develop Orb Bakery Phase 2!
Any business is only as good as its customers and you lot are as good as they come! Thank you so much for all your support, encouragement, patience, guidance and custom. We can't begin to tell you how much we appreciate it. Thank you.
We'll be keeping in touch via our e-newsletter and Facebook/twitter posts while we're away - frequently but not weekly we promise! If you don't want to get the Orb Messages from Morzine do let us know.
See you next May!!
