This week's bread is 100% Spelt Bread
Spelt is an ancient grain closely related to wheat. Famously brought to UK it is now making a big comeback because of its health benefits over 'normal' wheat - see the poster below for a list of the impressive health benefits of spelt.
Our 100% Spelt Bread is made with Stoneground, Organic white and wholemeal flours, salt, water and baker's yeast - and nothing else! The flour comes from Foster's Windmill at Swaffham Prior and is grown at Stuart and Howard Roberts' farm land at Hammonds End Farm near Harpenden in Hertfordshire. So not many food miles here.

Being a specialist organic grain it is not cheap - but the brread it makes is very satisfying and so you'll need less than you would for normal bread. A bread with a subtle nutty flavour - great for all the things you use bread for - particularly good toasted.
